History of Glenfarg
line
Glenfarg provides a natural route through the Ochils offering travellers a scenic route through the hills, from Perth to Edinburgh and Stirling to Saint Andrews.
In years gone by the village, previously known as Damhead, benefitted from the overnight stop overs of stagecoaches as horses were rested en route. Famous visitors over time are said to have included Mary, Queen of Scots, Sir Walter Scott and even Scotland's celebrated poet, Robert Burns.

In 1890 when the railway opened with a station in the village, Glenfarg became a very popular holiday destination with travellers from all over Scotland, and principally Edinburgh.

Today, most journeys bypass Glenfarg as the M90 motorway skirts the edges of the village, but we invite you to take a trip through the communities of Glenfarg, Duncrievie and Arngask and find out more about the hidden treasures within our village situated almost 500 feet above sea level, still tucked away among the rolling Ochils.

More information about our history and key points of interest will be online shortly. If you have any images, photographs or information you'd like added to our history page, why not contact the webteam with your suggestions.
